The contract would be initially for two years, but an extension to the contract subject to availability of work/funding would be considered at the relevant time.

SALARY

Starting salary for this position is competitive and negotiated based on relevant prior experience.

LOCATION

Main office Kincraig, Scottish Highlands. Hybrid and remote working options available

ANNUAL LEAVE

The leave year is from 1st July till 30th June: Annual leave entitlement for full time posts is 28 days and 8 public holidays.

TRAVEL

You will be required to travel as part of the post.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We offer a fantastic opportunity working within a small team to help drive business development for our not-for-profit data clinical data research organisation based in the Scottish Highlands. 

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven senior Business Development Manager to join our team. The Business Development Manager will play a pivotal role in acquiring new business from both existing and new pharmaceutical and biotechnology sponsors.

The contract would be initially for two years, but an extension to the contract subject to availability of work/funding would be considered at the relevant time. The candidate must already have the right to work in the UK. This role is not offered under the UK sponsorship scheme.

Major Tasks/job activities:

 

Develop and execute strategies to drive measurable sales growth and new revenue generation from new clinical trial customers.

  • Contribute to the development, coordination, and implementation plans to increase existing business and capture new opportunities.
  • Identify and manage potential new accounts, establishing and fostering mutually beneficial long-term partnerships.
  • Assist with maintaining productive relationships with existing clients.
  • Engage with customers to provide seamless solutions.
  • Monitor industry trends, changing regulations and other emerging opportunities, keeping senior leadership informed.
  • Provide strategic solutions to mitigate the impact of industry changes on business objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to tailor proposals and presentations to meet client needs; ensuring proposals are of an acceptable standard.
  • Contribute to the development of relevant marketing material and activities.
  • Represent the company professionally at conferences and industry events.
  • Contribute to account start-up and service delivery when new business is secured.
  • Effectively use and manage the company’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to manage leads, opportunities, and client interactions.
  • Contribute to and monitor existing key performance indicators (KPIs), as well as develop new KPIs related to business development targets.
  • Provide regular and comprehensive reports to senior leadership on progress against set targets.
  • Provide market insight and input into commercial tools, programs and processes.
  • Provide business development coaching/mentoring/education to FSS staff

 

EDUCATION/VOCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in the life sciences field or relevant experience
  • The candidate should have a minimum of 5 years’ knowledge and expertise in areas including life sciences, clinical research, business development, and marketing.
